This page covers IDrive Cloud-to-Cloud Backup — SaaS backup for six cloud apps. The rest:
Most product pages skip this. We start here — so you buy a capability, not a buzzword.
SaaS backup keeps an independent copy of the data you hold in cloud apps, because Microsoft, Google and Salesforce keep their services running — protecting your data is your job.
What consolidation actually replaces, dimension by dimension.
| Dimension | Recycle bins and version history | IDrive Cloud-to-Cloud Backup |
|---|---|---|
| A file deleted 60 days ago | Gone once the recycle bin empties | Restored from a dated snapshot |
| An Entra ID policy deleted | Rebuilt by hand, if anyone remembers it | Restored from an Entra ID snapshot |
| Ransomware in OneDrive | Hope the version history is long enough | Roll back to a snapshot from before the attack |
| A broken Salesforce field | Rebuilt by hand from memory | Metadata restored from the daily backup |
| Several SaaS apps | One backup tool per app, or none | Six connectors on one IDrive account |
| What it is NOT | — | SaaS backup only; no archiving, eDiscovery suite or Dynamics 365 |
The cheapest test is the 7-day free trial: connect your tenant, let a day of backups run, and restore something a user deleted last week.
Vendors love diagrams; buyers need to know what they’re actually operating. Here’s the whole platform, demystified.
An admin authorises Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Dropbox or Box through each service’s own API; nothing is installed on staff laptops.
Microsoft 365, Google, Dropbox and Box back up automatically up to three times a day; Salesforce runs daily, and a manual backup can be started at any time.
Snapshots land in an IDrive region you pick per connector — twelve for Microsoft 365, India among them, and seven for Google, Dropbox and Box — under AES-256.
One browser console to search every user’s snapshots, restore to the original or another account, export or download, and hand domains to delegated admins.
API connectors to six SaaS apps — snapshots up to three times a day, stored in the IDrive region you pick per app.
IDrive Cloud-to-Cloud Backup keeps an independent, restorable copy of six SaaS apps in IDrive’s cloud.
OneDrive, Outlook and Exchange, SharePoint sites and Teams and Groups are backed up per seat, with unlimited storage and no per-GB overage.
Gmail, Drive, Shared Drives, Calendar, Contacts and Google Classroom are covered, with 10 TB a seat before $5 per TB a month applies.
Standard and custom objects, files, Chatter feeds and metadata such as fields, Apex classes, workflows and dashboards, in production and sandbox orgs.
Each backup run keeps a snapshot of the user’s data, so a file, folder or mailbox can be rolled back to a version taken before ransomware struck.
Search by user and restore one email, contact, calendar entry or folder to the same account or a colleague’s — or restore a Salesforce field.
Backed-up data can be downloaded straight from IDrive with no dependency on the Microsoft 365 account — useful in an outage or a lost tenant.
Users, groups, roles, app registrations, conditional access policies and devices restored singly or together, to a known-good point in time.
Several Microsoft 365 domains can sit in one account, and admins can be invited and given only the domains whose backup and restore they run.
Choose where backups sit: Microsoft 365 offers twelve regions including India; Google Workspace, Dropbox and Box offer seven, none in India.
Why Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace need their own backup, restoring OneDrive, Exchange, SharePoint and Teams data, and backing up a production Salesforce org.
Why Microsoft 365 needs its own backup, and how IDrive does it.
Bringing back OneDrive, Exchange, SharePoint and Teams data.
Protecting Gmail, Drive and Shared Drives from one console.
Connecting a production org and restoring its records.

Most SaaS backup is quoted through partners. IDrive prints $20 per seat a year for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Dropbox and Box, $10 for Entra ID, and $2 a seat for monthly terms. Unlike IDrive’s other products, there is no first-year discount, so year two costs the same.
A Microsoft 365 seat carries unlimited backup storage, so a mailbox-heavy user or a large SharePoint library does not change the bill. Google Workspace, Salesforce, Dropbox and Box seats get 10 TB each, and only storage beyond that is charged, at $5 per TB a month.
Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Google Workspace with Classroom, Salesforce, Dropbox and Box are all connectors on one IDrive account and console. A business on Microsoft for mail and Box or Dropbox for files — or mid-way between Google and Microsoft — needs one contract, not three.
Only Microsoft 365 backups can be kept in India; Google Workspace, Dropbox and Box cannot. Encryption is IDrive’s default key — the private-key option is for IDrive’s device backup, not this. No Dynamics 365, no bring-your-own storage, no published retention period, and India pays in USD.
List users in Microsoft 365, Google, Salesforce, Dropbox and Box — each is a seat — and ask IDrive how departed users’ data is billed.
Choose India for Microsoft 365 if residency matters, and decide whether Google, Dropbox or Box data may sit in Tokyo or Europe.
Connect the tenant, let three daily runs finish, then restore one mailbox item, one SharePoint file and one Teams channel.
Add Entra ID seats at $10, connect the Salesforce production org and a sandbox, and test a metadata restore on a copy.
Assign domains to delegated admins, record the restore steps in your runbook, and choose yearly or monthly seat billing.

“At twenty dollars a seat a year, the Microsoft 365 backup cost less than the time we lost on one bad SharePoint deletion.”
“We picked the India region the week it appeared. For Google Workspace we had to accept Tokyo, and our auditor wanted that in writing.”
“Our sales team deleted a picklist field in production. Restoring the metadata from yesterday’s Salesforce snapshot took minutes.”
“Mail is on Microsoft, the design team lives in Box. One IDrive account now covers both, billed on a single seat rate.”
“Encryption uses IDrive’s key, not ours. For this data class that was acceptable, but it had to go through risk review first.”
“Teachers’ Google Classroom work is now in the same backup as staff OneDrive, and the lifetime education discount settled the budget.”

IDrive Cloud-to-Cloud Backup is one of 20 saas backup products TechBag carries. The SaaS Backup guide narrows them to a shortlist and shows the reasoning. →
Drag the sliders (seats protected; admin-hour cost). Estimates model IT time spent recovering deleted mail and files, chasing expired recycle bins and rebuilding lost settings at an assumed 1.5 hours per seat a year, with 70% of it removed by self-service snapshot restores. Both figures are assumptions. Illustrative.
Loaded cost = salary + overheads per productive hour. Illustrative only — your TechBag quote models your actual environment and modules.
Published, in USD per seat: $20 a year (or $2 a month) for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Dropbox or Box, and $10 a year for Entra ID. Unlike IDrive’s other products there is no first-year discount, so renewal costs the same. Microsoft 365 storage is unlimited; other apps include 10 TB a seat, then $5 per TB a month. Education gets 25% off for life. There is no INR price. TechBag counts your seats app by app, then quotes in INR with GST.
Best for Microsoft-first tenants
Best for a broader rollout
Best for mixed SaaS estates
Whatever the list prices above, TechBag negotiates a significantly better deal — with GST-compliant INR invoicing and local support. Ask us for your discounted quote.

Take this into your next vendor call — including ours.
How many users per app need protection? Every connected user is a seat at $20 a year — ask how departed users are counted.
Which apps hold business data — Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Dropbox, Box? Is Dynamics 365 in scope? IDrive does not cover it.
Must Entra ID objects such as conditional access policies be restorable? That is a separate $10 seat.
Must backups stay in India? Only the Microsoft 365 connector offers an India region today.
Does policy require a customer-held key? Cloud-to-cloud backup uses IDrive’s default encryption only.
Will any Google, Salesforce, Dropbox or Box user exceed 10 TB? Storage beyond that costs $5 per TB a month.
How long must deleted data be kept? IDrive publishes no retention period — get the terms in writing.
Can finance pay a USD card charge yearly or monthly, or do you need an INR invoice with GST through a partner?
Count your seats across Microsoft 365, Google, Salesforce, Dropbox and Box first, or let a TechBag advisor scope a trial that restores one mailbox, one site and one Salesforce field.
