The thesis

Why “which Kaseya brand” is the whole story

Kaseya sells two of almost everything — Unitrends and Datto for backup and DR, VSA and Datto RMM for endpoint management, Spanning and Datto SaaS Protection for SaaS data. Pick the brand that fits the job, then check what Kaseya 365 already bundles.

01
Bundled subscriptions

Kaseya 365

Three editions: Endpoint for devices, User for people and mailboxes, Ops for the MSP back office. Since December 2025 Kaseya bills them on a committed minimum plus usage.

02
Two backup families

Datto and Unitrends

Datto pairs SIRIS and ALTO with the Datto Cloud; Unitrends pairs Recovery Series and Backup Software with its own cloud in six countries. Kaseya sells both, side by side.

03
Two RMMs, one bundle

VSA 10 and Datto RMM

Kaseya keeps both RMMs. Kaseya 365 Endpoint lets a customer choose Datto RMM, VSA 10 or VSA 9, alongside Datto AV, Datto EDR and endpoint backup.

04
Cross-product AI layer

Kaseya Intelligence

Announced at Kaseya Connect 2026 to work across data from the whole portfolio; Kaseya says it manages 17M+ endpoints and over 3 exabytes of backed-up data.

Start with the job — backup and DR, endpoint management or security — then pick the Kaseya brand that does it.

The acronym decoder

Every term on these pages, in one place
MSP
Managed service provider: a firm that runs IT for other businesses, and the buyer most Kaseya products are built for.
RMM
Remote monitoring and management: watching, patching and scripting many devices from one console.
PSA
Professional services automation: the MSP system for tickets, contracts, time sheets and invoices.
Kaseya 365
Kaseya’s bundled subscriptions in three editions, Endpoint, User and Ops, each wrapping several products.
BCDR
Business continuity and disaster recovery: keeping backups, and getting systems running again after an outage.
DRaaS
Disaster recovery as a service: a provider runs your failed servers in its cloud until your site is back.
RTO and RPO
RTO is how long a recovery takes; RPO is how old the newest usable copy is when you recover.
Recovery Assurance
Unitrends’ automated recovery testing, which boots backups in isolation and reports the RTO and RPO it measured.
MDR
Managed detection and response: an outside SOC watches your alerts around the clock and acts on threats.
EDR
Endpoint detection and response: software that records activity on devices so threats can be found and reversed.
Automated pentest
Software that attacks your network the way a tester would, then reports which paths actually worked.
IT documentation
A shared record of client networks, passwords and procedures; IT Glue is Kaseya’s product for it.
Track 02 · Buying guides

Buy it like you’ve done this before

The procurement playbook TechBag runs with IT buyers — steps, licensing cheat-sheet, and the pitfalls that cost quarters.

01

List the jobs, not the brands

Write down what must be monitored, ticketed, backed up, recovered or watched. Kaseya sells several products per job, under six brand names.

02

Pick one product per job

VSA or Datto RMM, Autotask or BMS, Datto or Unitrends for servers, Spanning or Datto SaaS Protection. Running both of a pair doubles cost.

03

Price the bundle against the parts

Kaseya 365 Ops is $129 per user a month; Endpoint and User need 50 licences for new customers and carry no published price. Ask for both quotes.

04

Read the billing model

Since December 2025 Kaseya bills on a committed minimum plus usage, not peak counts. Model a quiet month and a busy one before you commit.

05

Decide where copies may sit

The Unitrends Cloud and Spanning have no India region. If data must stay in India, keep a local appliance copy and get the cloud location in writing.

06

Get it priced in rupees

Kaseya quotes in US dollars and names no Indian distributor. TechBag maps the products, arranges the route and quotes in rupees with GST.

Kaseya publishes two prices — Kaseya 365 Ops and IT Glue; everything else is quoted in USD. TechBag gets the quote itemised in INR with GST.

Five pitfalls that cost buyers quarters

1

Buying both products of a pair

Kaseya sells two RMMs, two PSAs, two server-backup families and two SaaS backups. Decide which one you run before the quote, or you pay twice.

2

Quoting an old Kaseya 365 price

The per-endpoint figures from the April 2024 launch are not on Kaseya’s site today. Endpoint and User are quoted, with a 50-licence minimum for new customers.

3

Assuming an India backup region

The Unitrends Cloud spans six countries and Spanning uses AWS regions, none of them in India. For DPDP-sensitive data, keep a local copy and get the location in writing.

4

Reading a vendor claim as a finding

The 1-hour RTO SLA as the industry’s only one, and the nearly 40,000 customers, are Kaseya’s own words. Gartner dropped Unitrends from its 2026 backup MQ.

5

Treating vPenTest as a scanner

vPenTest runs automated pentests that exploit and report attack paths; it does not replace a vulnerability scanner. VulScan is the scanner in the line.
